About Sesaya

Sesaya specializes in top-quality and developmentally appropriate children’s music-and-movement programs and singing, piano, strings and guitar classes for all ages. Sesaya has offered music programs for schools and childcare centres in North York since 2004. Now a home-based studio in its 14th year, Sesaya continues to provide excellent instruction by trained, professional teachers at a reasonable tuition.

Sesaya has established a strong reputation for student-centred studio music programs taught by our team of dynamic, qualified - and yes, fun - instructors. We offer private, paired or small-group lessons at all skill levels. We pride ourselves on successfully preparing students for solo and ensemble performances and high-school and university entrance auditions, with a very high success rate. In addition to skills, Sesaya students develop musicianship and a love of musical collaboration that is evident to all who attend the annual concerts hosted and performed by Sesaya students to showcase and celebrate their learning. These concerts have become an anticipated event in the North-York community, complete with professional playbills, photography and videography.

Sesaya was founded by Arpita Ghosal (B Ed, Ph D) and Scott Sneddon (Ph D) with the vision to provide lively and interactive music education to children, with an emphasis on participation and process. What began as a small neighbourhood music-and-movement program has grown to offer

  • programs for schools and childcare centres
  • professional development for teachers
  • workshops at the faculties of education at OISE/UT and York University

Our mission is simple: to support students, teachers and families in learning . . . and having fun.

Sesaya has established a strong reputation for student-centred studio music programs taught by our team of dynamic, qualified - and yes, fun - instructors. We offer private, paired or small-group lessons in piano, guitar, cello and singing, at all skill levels. We pride ourselves on successfully preparing students for solo and ensemble performances and high-school entrance auditions. In addition to skills, Sesaya students develop musicianship and a love of musical collaboration that is evident to all who attend the annual concerts hosted and performed by Sesaya students to showcase and celebrate their learning. Participation and process are our tools. Music and the arts are our canvas:

We teach music and movement to young children . . . and piano, guitar, cello, and singing to older students

We teach teachers how they can innovate their academic programming and incorporate the arts to enrich subjects such as language and math

We share reviews, interviews and ideas with arts-adoring families, educators and artists like us to promote artistic expression through SesayArts e-magazine.
